Jakes Rash- Race Day

Updated: Jun 5, 2019

The final event to cap off another Attack of Danger Bay. After a freeride day to dial it in, one thousand dollars cash is on the line for the winner of open class. No friends on race day!

After a final night of camping out under the power lines, we woke up Wednesday morning to sunshine, and birds chirping. Being the last day of the trip, everyone gets a case of the fuckits, and stuff is shoved in no order into the car. We grab a quick bite and take one last look at the beauty that is the B.C. coastline in this area. Raggie is in his usual spot at the top of the hill getting volunteers sorted and brackets made. For a final time this trip we pull out the boards, and pack on the leathers. Race day.

"Now we can make it home!"-Tim Del

Jakes Rash Race Day

At the top of the hill the mood is quite different than it was just a day ago. Although everything looks the same there is a bit of tension in the air. People are stretching, listening to music, and taking advantage of the final chance to wrench. You can almost feel the sigh of relief as the riders meeting finishes, and practice heats begin.

The race started without a cloud in the sky, and remained that way throughout the day.Again we were blessed by the weather gods and people took full advantage of it. The runs were close from the beginning, right until the very end. Team rider Diane Heibert placed second in women's, grabbing her third medal of the trip. The day however, went to Tim Del, who had also been on the podium at Danger Bay, with Dane in Second, and Max Third. A big shout out and thank you to everyone who sponsored, volunteered, and otherwise helped out to put on such a great event year after year. You guys are the true MVP's. If you missed this year be sure to youtube attack of danger bay to get a peek at what you are missing out on. See you next year, and Make Gnarly Normal!
