A Danger Bay staple, Dump Road is always a great place to get some quick laps in with the homies. Located in between skate hockey and the lake, Dump Road is the place to be come Saturday afternoon.
The sign says it all. Dump Road is a must of every Danger Bay experience. Located in Pender Harbour British Columbia, you find yourself immersed in Canada's only rain forest area. Not only is this area extremely beautiful, it also has gnarly hills and gnarly people. This sign is an example of how much longboarding has become apart of the community. With roads like Dump to skate everyday, it is no wonder that team Irene is producing world class racers.
"I'm just going to get real drunk tonight, so i'm hungover tomorrow, and won't want to drink the night before the race." -Concrete Cowboy
Saturday
And so was his plan. After a slow start to the morning we headed off toward the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal located just outside metro Vancouver. As always as soon as the car was parked we headed upstairs towards the top deck. Here we came across a very puzzled, and quite impressed member of the crew looking at a Cariboo sticker 15' out on a flag pole. No doubt now, we were almost at Danger Bay.
For those who have never been, Saturday is the day of the Parade along with skate hockey. If you arrive Saturday as we did it is best to head straight to Madeira Park. We arrived just in time to catch the last few rounds of hockey before heading to the campground to set up. This is point of the day where we lost concrete cowboy to his hammock. The rest of us grabbed our gear and headed out to get some Dump Runs. The road is located not far from camp and is a great warm up for the weekend to come. You will often find a crew mobbing the hill, but if you are solo worry not, locals frequently stop to give you a ride back to the top. With a few turns and a whole lot of fun, dump road is arguably the official, unofficial best time Danger Bay weekend.
