I learned to skateboard in Vernon, BC. The story of why I started longboarding... I always mildly made fun of longboarders back in 2005/2006 before I had ever tried one. In late 2006, I stepped on my best friend Justin Brockholms' new Sector 9 "bomb hills not countries" pintail, and hit 40-45 km per hour going down the hill I grew up on. It blew my mind. Feeling the fear of not being able to run off, and not being in control enough to do anything about it. I ended up mobbing up a curb and hittin' some grass, throwing me into a sweet tumble, instantly recovering and grabbing the board to bring it to the top for another go; true love.
Nowadays, the reason I skate is because there is no better feeling than being in control of that speed. It's where I go to clear my head, be free, and do what I love to do.
The reason I ride PARKtek boards, is because I truly appreciate what I see these guys doing, from day one. I saw a lot of the bigger companies that I idolized as a young long boarder going in the natural, but wrong direction. I could tell from just one day hanging out at the PARKtek shop, seeing what they got, that they were top blokes and had the best of intentions with their (at the time) side project. My favorite part about what PARKtek does is the continual growth in the RIGHT direction. This is what they want to do, not what they need to do.
My favorite board is the Good Copy (Batmobile edition). I designed this board with the guys. After many attempts we successfully crafted the board now known as the Good Copy. This board is light, and very responsive. With a smaller standing platform than most models, this board is a downhill machine.
My advice to anyone starting out would be, don’t be scared to send it and fail, because team 'sent it' is still much more fun than team 'didn't send it'.
